mer-made is debora, and debora is me, the name in hebrew meaning "busy bee",
(rumour had it she once sat by a tree,
sharing her ways with those who would see...)
but a mermaid is a girl fish who swims in the sea , enjoying its delights there for you and for me,
so mer-made is then something born of the sea
and all that surrounds it through me to thee
blessed bee!

myrrh (mer): used to facilitate the soul's journey from one life to the next

i use fabrics, of natural fibres only, derived from discarded samples or seconds clothing ie from faulty new clothes. i deconstruct these and organically transform/transmutate them into completely new designs. each piece is a handstitched original, sometimes adorned with other found treasures.

mer-made's prices (in Australian dollars) reflect an attempt to honour the work of the artist while trying to keep her work affordable to those who appreciate it. buying direct from the designer means you pay less and the creator of the work is the one being paid for her work. she is not adverse to bartering and she may even make to order!

mer-made has however stocked boutiques across melbourne, and sold works internationally in berlin germany where she lived and launched her label
